The Applied Ballistics Analytics Package is the ultimate desktop Ballistics program. Using the Applied Ballistics solver, you can calculate ballistics based on G1 or G7 referenced BC’s as well as the full library of Applied Ballistics custom drag models. The state of the art solver combined with laboratory measured drag data makes this the best and most complete solver on the market.

In addition to the full suite of conventional ballistics features, the Applied Ballistics Analysis Package also offers a unique capability: Weapon Employment Zone (WEZ) analysis. WEZ analysis looks at your probability of hit on targets at various ranges given user selectable uncertainty parameters. For example, you can explore the driving factors in your hit percentage against a 10” square target at 800 yards for two different rifles with a defined wind uncertainty. The method and many specific analysis were published in Bryan Litz’ book: ”Accuracy and Precision for Long Range Shooting”. Now you can have the power of this analysis technique to explore your own rifles and uncertainty environments.

1. AB Engine – Applied Ballistics Analytics runs a Point Mass ballistic solver. The program integrates the equations of ballistic motion numerically, using a 4th order Runge-Kutta routine at 1000 Hz. This is a standard way of solving dynamic equations of motion in aircraft and missile simulations. This particular solver was written by former missile design engineer and current ballistician Bryan Litz. The current gold standard by professional/recreational shooters. No other system has been field tested and proven accurate by more shooters, and more professionals.
2. Custom Drag Model Library – This software comes with the entire Custom Drag Model Library pre-installed. Custom Drag Models are not G1/G7 BCs. To learn more see here: Custom Drag Models
3. G1/G7 Tested BCs – Included in the software is the G1/G7 tested data on over 800+ bullets. This is not the advertised BCs from the manufacturer, but the tested data from the AB Lab. You can see our complete bullet library here.
4. Ballistic Calibration Tools – Included in the software is a complete set of Ballistic Calibration Tools. Including DSF, or Drop Scale Factor. This is used to correct the firing solution in the sub-sonic zone.
5. Muzzle Velocity Calibration Tool – Muzzle Velocity Calibration Tool allows the shooters to correct their MV based on known drop and distance. This is an important factor to get right, but a lot of chronographs are not as accurate as we would like them to be. To learn more about that see the Chronograph Performance Study.
6. Scope Turret Trueing Factor – Scope Turrets are not always true. The Tall Target Test can help you verify if your Turrets are tracking perfectly. But if they are not, you can input your Sight Scale Factor in to the software, and it will adjust for your corrected turret values.
7. Muzzle Velocity Temp-Table – The MV-Temp Table is a tool that allows the software to calibrate the MV based on the outside Temp. As temp changes our MV changes due to a physical change that happens to the gun powder. Some powders are more stable than others, and certain types of powder are more stable than other types (flake, ball, stick). To account for this, shooters can create a custom table that trains the software to their powder.
8. Vertical & Horizontal Coriolis – Vertical and Horizontal Coriolis are two independent factors. Our software accounts for both of them, individually, then reports the correct solution for each to the shooter.
9. Spin Drift – This software automatically calculates Spin Drift, and implements it in to the firing solution.
10. Aerodynamic Jump – AB was the first commercially available ballistic solver to correctly calculate for Aerodynamic Jump. Aerodynamic Jump is independently solved and provided as part of the firing solution.
11. Maximum Ordinate – This program calculates and reports the Maximum Ordinate, which is the highest point in the projectiles trajectory on its way to the target.
12. Moving Targets – This program includes an input for moving target direction and speed, if shooters wish to incorporate moving targets in to the firing solution.
13. Zero Offset – Users have the option to input zero offsets. This is used for two conditions. The first is that the turrets do not have enough adjustment to perfectly zero, such as 1/2 moa adjustment turrets. The second use for this tool, is for POI shift when using devices like a silencer. You can zero the rifle with a silencer, then create a second profile that accounts for the POI shift when the silencer is removed.
14. Sight In Conditions – Users have the option to input the weather conditions at the time they zero. This is important for long range zeros (example 300 yards) but is not necessary for 100 yard zeros. At short range, the bullet is not impacted by environmental changes.
15. Inclination – Users can input the angle to the target. This system correctly calculates for the differences in uphill/downhill shooting. Instead of using the improved rifleman’s rule, this program actually calculates for the changes in drag as the bullets velocity changes in the correction.
16. Firing Solution Components – The firing solution is broken down for the user in to individual components for evaluation. Elevation: (Gravity Drop, Vertical Coriolis, & Aerodynamic Jump) Windage: (Wind Drift, Horizontal Coriolis, & Spin Drift).
17. Range Card – This program has a customizable range card, which can be printed for difference scenarios/environments.
18. Printable Custom Range Cards – Users can set the Start Range, Stop Range, and Increments down to 1 Unit (Yards, Meters, or Inches).
19. Velocity, Energy, and Mach Reported – This program independently reports Velocity, Energy, and current Mach Speed at each range in the range card.
20. Weapon Employment Zone Analysis – Includes (Wind Effect, Vertical Uncertainty, Horizontal Uncertainty, Shot Simulation, & Probability of Hit).
21. WEZ Variable Target Shapes/Sizes – Users can select from 3 shapes (IPSC, Circle, Rectangle), and set the target dimensions.
22. Wind Profile Analysis – Users may input up to 10 different wind zones in 6 directions (Vertical, Crosswind, Head/Tail Wind), or connect a Wind Sensor Array for automatic continuous updating. The wind is then averaged between the shooter and target for the most accurate results.
23.Profile Management – Ability to upload/download created profiles to a compatible device.
24. Save, Store, Edit profiles for later use, or use with compatible devices.
25. Share Profiles – Profiles are in an easy to access location for backup, or sharing with other users.
26. Multiple Instances – Ability to run more than one instance at a time, for comparison between bullets, cartridges, calibers, etc.

I shoot Hornady 140G ELD-X Match ammo in 6.5CM. I have previously come from Hornady's 4DOF program - this is better. At 1000 yards - this gives me the exact shooting solution (elevation). I have run this vs Hornady's 4DOF and other G7 calculators and this is the only one that got it right (I attribute it to a better drag curve).  The customer service and the included book is fantastic as well.

As far as the licensing is concerned. With three installation instances - I think its pretty fair. Anyone familiar with @Risk or CrystalBall - some of the leading statistical packages out there for other applications - most of the licensing works in this manner or similar. Not my favorite but its the norm - and if this bring revenue in for more research and better software - personally Im willing to pay.

Like the other have said its a nice software program and it works for my needs however the licensing seems kind of fishy and for that reason I feel like it should be cheaper or find a better solution to licensing

I struggled with the decision to purchase due to the licensing policy.  After I spoke with AB, I decided to purchase late on a Friday afternoon.  I like most, have become used to instant gratification and was somewhat disappointed that my licensing keys did not arrive until Sunday.  During the time I waited (not even 36 hrs) I checked out the company and employees and found their credentials to be impressive, with great You Tube videos.
When I received my software keys I loaded up.  So far I am exceptionally satisfied (not an easy task) and would recommend this company and services without question.  The personalized service (Thank you Amanda) by far outweighs the minor inconvenience of software keys.

I am a Life Safety Engineer, CAD operator, NRA Instructor (in all disciplines), Programmer, and an avid shooter all of my life.  That having been said, I look forward to doing additional business with AP.

It is  not uncommon for software licenses to limit the number of installs, however, a partial solution that is used on some of my financial modeling software is the ability to authorize one or more licenses to a particular computer.  If the computer will be upgraded or replaced, my financial software has the ability to release the license back to the vendor which I can then download again to the new computer.  This still limits my license to "x" number of installs, but gets around the upgrading issue.  

I don't have the software at this time.

they chance the way the licensing works. It's basically a scam. with the ability to install it only a number of times you can't cane any of your pc components or it'll make you use another key. If you're someone who upgrades pc's or changes system parts frequently, you're going to have a bad time.
